Getting Started with Soft Reserve Raids

New to soft reserves? Learn how they work, then choose the raider or raid leader guide below—even if you have only joined gold-bid raids before.

What Are Soft Reserves (SR)?

Soft reserves are an established raid loot system in North America.

Soft reserves (SR) let you choose the items you want before the raid.

When an item drops, players who reserved it have priority. If several players reserved it, they roll against each other.

A soft reserve does not guarantee you the item. Reserve limits and duplicate reserve rules vary by raid.

Actual loot distribution follows this raid’s rules.

Multiple-Reserve Roll Example

Here is one raid’s rule: A reserved the item once; B reserved it three times. Each reserve gives a roll, and the single highest roll wins.

A 1 Reserves on the Same ItemRoll 88Highest 88
B 3 Reserves on the Same ItemRoll 42, 75, 94Highest 94

B wins with 94, beating A’s 88.

Three rolls do not guarantee a win. Rolls are not added together; only the highest counts.

In this example, 3 SR is a player’s total reserve allowance, while ×3 means using all three on one item.

Leader Bonus Soft Reserves
The raid leader gets additional reserves on top of the normal allowance.
Bonus reserves follow the same loot rules as other soft reserves. If others reserve the item, you roll against them; the item is not guaranteed.
If Nobody Reserved It
Unreserved items follow the raid’s loot rules.
Common options include MS/OS, fewer-loot priority, or +1.
Check the raid notes for the exact rules.

What Are Hard Reserves (HR)?

These are items reserved for the raid leader in advance.

If an HR item drops, the raid leader receives it without a roll.

Before applying, check whether any items are hard reserved and which ones.

This is different from leader bonus soft reserves (SR).

Approve Applicants and Check Your Reserves

Use the Raid Leader Hub to approve, hold, waitlist, or decline applicants. Your own reserves may be empty or partial and can be edited before the deadline. Check the roster and reserves before starting, then close reserves.

Use Gargul In-Game

Once reserves close, use Gargul in-game to manage loot, SoftRes, rolls, and distribution.

Export WaPPo’s reserve list for Gargul to see who reserved each item and how many times while raiding.

When loot drops, check its reservers and reserve counts in Gargul, roll according to your raid’s rules, then give the item to the winner. The raid leader delivers the actual item. Exports are per raid: choose the raid in the leader hub and select Export to Gargul.
